Intro to me and LRFC

Updated: Jan 1, 2019

Hi. I'm Alicia, and I love flowers. I always have. When I was in the first grade it was time for the science fair and somehow (either my idea or my moms) I ended up doing my project on flowers. The goal was to see what effect sunlight, floral food, and other factors had on their growth, development, and general lifespan. I don't remember the outcome of the science fair, I think I got a participation ribbon- ha! What I do remember is that the science fair stirred something inside of me, and ever since then my love and passion for flowers has only grown.

I've always loved putting arrangements together for any occasion: birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, new babies- you get the idea. In 2017 I was asked to be in a friend's wedding and I remember her stressing about the flowers. Like the good friend I was (and somewhat selfishly- since I love them so much) I volunteered to do the arrangements for her. Piece of cake, right? Boy was I wrong! I had no idea all about of the mechanics behind ordering and processing flowers, keeping them alive and fresh, and not to mention how to do the different types of arrangements.. but, I loved the learning process - and how my house smelled the week leading up to her wedding thanks to all the gorgeous blooms I had! The day of her wedding came and as I was sitting in the makeup chair I heard the photographer ask "By the way, what is the name of your florist so I can tag them in my pictures?" I was flattered. Were they the most amazing arrangements ever? No. But I thought, what if I put some time and effort into learning the actual ins and outs of floral business, mechanics, and design? Maybe I could do this for real.

And so, in February 2018, Lucy Rose Flower Co. was born. In my first year I spent countless hours in classes, watching videos, learning, and practicing. I booked five weddings and two elopements, made countless prom corsages and boutonnieres, anniversary, Valentines Day, Mother's Day, even Teacher's Day arrangements! And with every flower I studied and learned. The first year of business I was so blessed to work with so many amazing brides who trusted me with the most important day of their lives! I will forever be thankful for those first few who really let me unleash my creative side! And now, going into this second year of business, I can not wait to see what kinds of weddings I'll get to help create and what amazing people I'll get to meet in the process. In the meantime, I hope you'll stick around and watch to see what incredible things 2019 holds for LRFC!

Some pictures from that first wedding!
